As a culminating experience that is reflective of the student’s entire IB learning journey at ASJ, the Grade 5 students are given the opportunity to select an area of study that is of personal significance to them and to then present and share their valuable perspectives and insights on this topic with the wider community.

During their time of study, the students are able to acquire knowledge from various members within their local and global environment and to work arduously with a team of dedicated mentors and subject-specific experts who help them to come to an in-depth understanding of their key issues.

This year the Grade 5 students focused upon thought-provoking concepts that were all connected to the exploration of their Central Idea ‘Change in the environment can determine the choices of people’. In consideration of this, they were committed to exploring relevant and real-world learning content that helped them to better understand universal concerns impacting the world around them, such as water and land pollution, global warming, endangered animals and climate change.
今年,五年级学生们把重点放在了发人深省的概念上,这些概念与他们的中心思想“环境的变化可以决定人们的选择”的探索有关。从这一点出发,他们致力于探索与现实世界相关的学习内容,更好地理解影响周围世界的常见问题,如水和土地污染、全球变暖、濒危动物和气候变化。

Applying their creative and critical thinking skills, they transformed the findings from the primary and secondary research that they had conducted into a myriad of products. Exhibition visitors enjoyed viewing three-dimensional models, vivid landscape paintings, videos, science experiments and infographics, which all helped to clearly portray the knowledge that the students had gained.
他们运用创造性和批判性思维,将初级和次级研究的发现转化为作品。参观者可以欣赏立体模型、生动的山水画、影片、科学实验和资讯图表,这些都有助于清晰地展示学生所学到的知识。

The Grade 5 students confidently expressed themselves during their emotively engaging presentations, in which they successfully inspired their audience to reflect and reconsider ‘What a wonderful world’ it could indeed be, if everyone would take simple actions to make a powerful change for both the present and future generations.
五年级学生们在激动人心的演讲中自信地表达了自己,他们促使听众们深思:如果每个人都能采取简单的行动,为当下和未来的一代做出强有力的改变,世界将是多么美好。
